After a two minute delay, here are three terrified and courageous beginners jamming at Jon Gindick's Blues Harmonica Jam Camp in New Jersey 2006. Notice how everybody gets a little better as the jam goes on. Notice how fun and supportive the atmosphere is. These wonderful beginners, Mindi, Michelle and Joe, have spent the last three days studying the arts of the harp, and their "Next Level" was to achieve a single note. While they music they made that day was not braggable, we have learned that the experience of playing in stage with a band--even as a total beginner-- is a musical highlight for most of us, and helps create a strong foundation for further growth. My favorite song of all time. In G. I play C harp. In thebody of the song I am in second position. In the second instrumental, the guitar goes into an extended V chord/IV Chord vamp and I play in 3rd position, before returning to I chord and the 2nd position melody. I guess this song proves that top 40 pop of yesteryear is my real musical inspiration. I started singing this song when it came out, pre Beatles, before I played an instrument. I figured it out guitarwise when I could barely make a chord, and then played it as a country folk song. I have never stopped playing it and singing it. Now that turn every thing into some weird form of Gindo-jazz/blues, here it is the way it sounds now.
