From the early hours of the morning people began gathering at Modena's cathedral to pay their last respects to their beloved opera star Luciano Pavarotti. Local residents signed a book of condolence outside the cathedral. As the morning progressed, hundreds of people were lining up to file past the coffin of the opera star. Luciano Pavarotti died on Thursday after a struggle against cancer. His body will lie in state ahead of his funeral at the cathedral on Saturday afternoon.
