## Shot 12/24/2009. ## Family to hold Christmas Eve funeral for Brittany Murphy By Alan Duke CNN LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) — A private funeral service for actress Brittany Murphy will be conducted Thursday evening at the Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn Cemetery, a family spokesman said. "The family is hoping to have a larger memorial early in the new year to share memories of Brittany but nothing is confirmed yet," spokesman Alex Ben Block said. Murphy was pronounced dead Sunday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Authorities have said the 32-year-old appeared to have died Sunday of natural causes, and there was no sign of foul play or trauma. The funeral, which is private and invitation only, will include Christian and Jewish clergy, Block said. The crash happened about 1 p.m. on New York's Bruckner Expressway, according to the statement from NBC spokeswoman Jenny Tartikoff. Neither Brokaw nor his wife, Meredith, were hurt, it said. The accident occurred when an SUV swerved to avoid a spool of wire that had fallen from a truck and slammed into a seven-ton U.S. postal truck, said Peter Rendina, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Brokaw, who was driving behind the postal truck, hit the rear of the truck, Rendina said.
