His biography on the National Basketball Association (NBA) website states, "By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time."[1] Jordan was one of the most effectively marketed athletes of his generation and was instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s. After a stand-out career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he led the Tar Heels to a National Championship in 1982, Jordan joined the NBA’s Chicago Bulls in 1984. He quickly emerged as a league star, entertaining crowds with his prolific scoring. His leaping ability, illustrated by performing slam dunks from the free throw line at Slam Dunk Contests, earned him the nicknames "Air Jordan" and "His Airness". He also gained a reputation for being one of the best defensive players in basketball.[2] In 1991, he won his first NBA championship with the Bulls, and followed that achievement with titles in 1992 and 1993, securing a "three-peat". Although Jordan abruptly retired from basketball at the beginning of the 199394 NBA season to pursue a career in baseball, he rejoined the Bulls in 1995 and led them to three additional championships (1996, 1997, and 1998) as well as an NBA-record 72 regular-season wins in the 199596 season. Jordan retired for a second time in 1999, but returned for two more NBA seasons in 2001 as a member of the Washington Wizards. Jordan's individual accolades and accomplishments include five MVP awards, ten All-NBA First Team designations, nine All-Defensive First Team honors, fourteen NBA All-Star Game appearances, three All-Star Game MVP awards, ten scoring titles, three steals titles, six NBA Finals MVP awards, and the 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. He holds the NBA records for highest career regular-season scoring average (30.12 points per game) and highest career playoff scoring average (33.4 points per game). In 1999, he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN, and was second to Babe Ruth on the Associated Press's list of athletes of the century. He was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame on April 6, 2009 and was inducted on September 11, 2009.[3] Jordan is also noted for his product endorsements. He fueled the success of Nike's Air Jordan sneakers, which were introduced in 1985 and remain popular today.[4] Jordan also starred in the 1996 feature film Space Jam as himself. He is currently a part-owner and Managing Member of Basketball Operations of the Charlotte Bobcats in North Carolina. michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction ceremony tv michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction ceremony 2009 michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction ceremony tv michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction ceremony 2009 michael jordan commercial top 10 dunks highlights mj air michael jordan i believe i can fly video song space jam dunk contest 1985 michael jordan vs kobe bryant one on one free throw dunk 1993 1 on 1 michael jordan interview oprah 2008 2009 michael jordan vs kobe bryant one on one free throw dunk 1993 1 on 1 michael jordan mix tape 2 3 high quality michael jordan highlights in college mix dunks dunking dunk air commerical nike coke mcdonalds interview michael jordan interview highlights 23 nike air commercial dunk chicago bulls nba basketball hall of fame induction 2009

Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali - Tribute to the Greatests

HD TV LINK: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/792228/... DESCRIPTION: Was it his physical prowess, his social commentary, his clever, cocky rhymes? Or was it his post boxing, humanitarian endeavors? Maybe it's all of the above for many who have been inspired, uplifted, and touched by the greatest champion of all time, Muhammad Ali. Muhammad Ali has undoubtedly been a fixture in world culture since the 1960's. Seizing the gold medal at the Olympics in 1960, battling George Foreman in "The Rumble in the Jungle" in Zaire, and going head to head with Joe Frazier in "The Thrilla in Manila" in the Philippines, were highlights of a career that earned Ali the status of world icon. Since his retirement in 1981, Ali has engaged in many humanitarian endeavors, including a 1990 journey to Iraq to negotiate the release of 15 hostages. In the last 20 years, Ali's cultural status has hardly diminished: 3 billion television viewers around the world watched him open the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. Although, a summary of his basketball career and influence on the game inevitably fails to do it justice, as a phenomenal athlete with a unique combination of fundamental soundness, grace, speed, power, artistry, improvisational ability and an unquenchable competitive desire, Jordan single-handedly redefined the NBA superstar. Even contemporaneous superstars recognized the unparalleled position of Jordan. Magic Johnson said, "There's Michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us." Larry Bird, following a playoff game where Jordan dropped 63 points on the Boston Celtics in just his second season, appraisal of the young player was: "God disguised as Michael Jordan. A brief listing of his top accomplishments would include the following: Rookie of the Year; Five-time NBA MVP; Six-time NBA champion; Six-time NBA Finals MVP; Ten-time All-NBA First Team; Nine time NBA All-Defensive First Team; Defensive Player of the Year; 14-time NBA All-Star; Three-time NBA All-Star MVP; 50th Anniversary All-Time Team; Ten scoring titles -- an NBA record and seven consecutive matching Wilt Chamberlain; Retired with the NBA's highest career scoring average of 30.1ppg. However, his impact is far greater than awards and championships. He burst into the league as a rookie sensation scoring in droves with an unmatchable first step and acrobatic drives and dunks and concluded his career as a cultural icon. Along the way, he became a true champion who spearheaded the globalization of the NBA with his dynamic on court abilities and personal sense of style that was marketed to the masses. He was an accessible star who managed to maintain an air of mystique. He was visible as "Air Jordan," as part of a sneaker advertising campaign and endorsing other products as well as the star of the movie, Space Jam. However, he would vanish into retirement twice only to return until hanging up the sneakers for the last time after the 2002-03 season. Although Brooklyn born, Jordan was bred in the more tranquil North Carolina. The son of Delores and James Jordan, he shared a special bond with his father, which included baseball being both of their first love. However, following his older brother, Larry, whom he idolized and was a spectacular athlete in his own right, Jordan began to play basketball THIS IS THE TRIBUTE TO THE GREATEST ========================== CREATED BY BRUCE BLITZ ========================== I used Sony Vegas Platinum Studio.
