The Tale of the Bubbling Buddha

This is my fish tank. It contains a bunch of colorful and edgy African Cichlids fish, and one dragon-like, bottom-feeding pleco. When I first purchased the tank about a year ago, the guy at the fish store - who looked very much like a fish himself - told me that these fish would need lots of little caves to hide in. "Give them lots of structure!" he excitedly told me with a lisp. "Think of the rocks as a fish hotel." Boy, was he ever right. These guys love caves and lots of bubbles. In the video above, you can see my tank in its most recent setup. I’ve added a t-shaped section of PVC pipe tunnel within the rocks just for fun. They seem to enjoy it, and the dominant guy in the tank has made it his own. You can see him come out to chase the others away in this video. I've also added a statue of Buddha. There were holes along his shoulders so that he wouldn't float to the top. Thus, I ran my air stone underneath him, and had an instant "Bubbling Buddha." The fish seem to love him. Who knew they were so into Eastern philosophy? If you listen close as you watch this video, you will hear my kitty Charlotte jingling the tags on her collar. She was getting antsy because I wasn't paying attention to her, and decided to tear about the house in the dark. I might add, she is very fond of the fish herself, and often looks at them longingly. Where I see a fun hobby and the nurturing of life for life's sake, I believe she sees colorful, swimming snacks. And, in case you haven't met her, you can say hello to Charlotte here.
