EmploymentCrossing Deerfield, Illinois-based retailer Walgreens has begun over-the-counter retail sales of the Identigene DNA Paternity Test Kit, the first DNA test kit to ever be sold over-the-counter. The product, produced by Identigene of Salt Lake City, is now available in more than 15,000 retail locations in 48 states. Walgreens is also offering the DNA paternity test kits through its Web site, Walgreens.com. First offered in retail stores in November 2007, Identigene has since sold more than 60,000 DNA Paternity Test Kits nationwide. "People with paternity questions responded immediately to purchasing the test kits at their local drug store," said Identigene COO Doug Fogg. "It is a convenient and familiar place for people to buy products they can trust." Identigene says their laboratory routinely provides test results with probabilities of paternity greater than 99.99 percent. A pioneer in DNA family relationship testing since 1993, Identigene is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks. DNA paternity test participants collect a DNA sample by rubbing the inside of their mouths using swabs provided in the kit. The DNA samples, along with consent forms and lab fee, are then sent in a postage-paid return envelope to Identigene for processing. Results are available within three to five business days of receipt at the laboratory. Customers can choose to receive results by mail or online through a secured Web service. All information remains strictly confidential. Identigene, a Sorenson Genomics subsidiary founded in 1993, offers a full range of DNA testing services including tests used to determine paternity, siblingship and other familial relationships, as well as DNA tests for legal purposes such as immigration, child custody, settling estates and resolving other family-related situations. IMDb summary: Using an array of gloves in different styles and from different historical periods, the film is a short history of the cinema - from silent movies via pastiches of Buñuel and Fellini and Close Encounters of the Third Kind to a futurist junkyard where tin cans become animated police cars in a city of urban decay.
Deal Economy 2010: Young on QBs as PE investors

What do Steve Young, Earvin (Magic) Johnson, Drew Bledsoe, David Robinson and Ronnie Lott have in common? They’re all professional athletes turned private equity investors. In The Deal's video conversation, former NFL quarterback Young talks about the "entrepreneurial spirit of football," the pressure of following in the footsteps of four-time Super Bowl winner Joe Montana and why quarterbacks make good PE investors. Young's football prowess is legendary. He was named the most valuable player of Super Bowl XXIX in 1995, when he led the San Francisco 49ers to victory. These days, Young is the managing director of Huntsman Gay Global Capital LLC, a Palo Alto, Calif., private equity firm that closed a $1.1 billion private equity fund earlier this year. Far from the stereotypical dumb jock, Young earned a law degree, previously co-founded a PE firm called Sorenson Capital and founded a charity for children called the Forever Young Foundation. Oh, and he's also a talented public speaker, as those of us who attended The Deal Economy 2010 conference in New York last week witnessed. Click here for more on Young's remarks there. Subscribers to The Deal Pipeline may read more about Huntsman Gay here. Watch the video below or download it on iTunes. - Mary Kathleen Flynn
