SORRY SOUND AUDIO NOT WORKING - BUT TEXT BELOW: The Phuket Yacht Club at the picturesque Ao Yon Bay near Cape Panwa on the south west side of Phuket, held their Open Day last Sunday the 30th of September, and despite the heavy rain quite a few residents, members, and visitors, both foreign and Thai, turned up to watch and join in an informal and fun program of small dinghy sailing, canoe racing and especially international dragon boat racing, being held for the first time ever in Phuket. We arrived as they were holding some short kayak or canoe races for several active kids, including Maxine, Lilo and Emma here who didn't mind get wet and splashed in the rain and sea: During the rain break, Bill Smith, secretary of the club, explained some of the club's activities and so-called adoption of sailing dinghies scheme, to attract more sponsors and provide a stable financial support for this small but long established club. Then Mike Downard, from sponsors Sail in Asia showed the first two groups of willing oarsmen and women, some tips on how to row or stick their oars in, at the same time and rhythm for the dragon boats. Once they learnt the basics it was time to push their boats out and hit the water; We went on board to experience the thrill and speed of these first timers: together with the young drummers, keeping the beat in rhythm with the crew: They lined up for a couple of short races and did remarkably well to keep them in a straight line without crashing into each other. After the races, one of the crews practiced a capsizing to know how to act in an emergency: After they pulled in to shore we spoke to oarsman, and environmentalist Marco Reinhard, who recently cycled and canoed all round Phuket, and to Mike about this first outing for the crews: "Well I think today went well....... sorry to get you wet." http://www.phuketdining.com http://phuketdreamer.ning.com/ Pinocchio Italian Restaurant Insider Tour Kata Beach Phuket 2008 The other night we walked down the base of the hill from the Aspasia Phuket and dined at the Pinocchio restaurant, which a small Italian restaurant that serves some pretty good authentic cuisine. Now there are tons of Italian restaurants throughout Phuket and we have dined at several locations, Pinocchio's would defiantly make one of our top five. The service in this restaurant is not too bad, although I think when there is less customers the staff sometimes is a little bit slow, but being low season, most places are hurting for customers, there were only a few customers the night we dined here. The fire baked pizza was very good, along with the seafood pasta, something that I would order again, oh, they also have a very good wine selection, so you can really add that Italian touch to your meal. Has anybody else experienced Pinocchio's? If you have please let me know, I would love to hear about your dining experience. Bang Tao Beach Phuket Seaside Dining Tour

Bang Tao beach Phuket is an excellent location for some good seaside dining, you can find some of the best seafood and Thai restaurants right here, when you eat at one of these beach front restaurants they are considerably cheaper than dining in the main resort restaurants, and they are just a lot of fun to go to. Please join me on my video tour of various seaside dining locations on north Bang Tao beach Phuket. Bang Tao Beach Phuket is one awesome beach and when you arrive you will know what I mean, the beach is huge and when you arrive, the view is one of the best in Phuket. If you dont know where Bang Tao beach is, the beach is located north of Surin beach, right behind this beach stands Laguna Phuket which has numerous 5 star resorts inside. One of my all time favorite swim routes is located right here at Bang Tao, there is an entry point down on the south end and my exit point is about center beach; whole swim is about 2 kilometers and I try to come up here from my home in Kata beach to do this excellent swim. When you arrive on the beach you will also notice plenty of seaside dining areas, take your pick, each one of them are nice to eat at and all of them have a great view of the beautiful Andaman Sea.I love to come up to Bang Tao and often just never seem to get enough of this location, its just soooo beautiful, so make sure you plan a few days at this wonderful beach; take pictures, dine at one of the many restaurants, enjoy the water, the place is incredible.
