This was a 12 hour Mountain bike race in Fayetteville tennessee. The storm began right at the start, and by the time my partner came in and I started my lap it was a gooey mess! 50 pounds of mud clinging to my bike! Kirk Pacenti of Pacenti Cycle Design has been a long-time proponent of 29" wheels for mountain bikes, but he now believes that the "tweener" 650B is the MTB wheel size of the future. And he's putting his money where his mouth is. A Pacenti-designed and branded Panaracer-made 650B mountain tire is currently available. He even built Dirt Rag a 650B mountain bike to test the theory. In our video interview from Interbike 2007, Kirk explains the advantages of 650B, and tell us that a host of bicycle industry players, both large and small, are jumping on the 650B bandwagon.
