Meteor Attack and the Earth Was No More. Doomsday 2012. Swarms of meteors, asteroids, and comets bombard the Earth, destroying all life and then...the planet is no more. Will this happen in 2012? Sir Isaac Newton calculated the world would end in 2060--but he may have been referring to the end of the age of Pieces/Virgo, and the beginning of the new age of Aquarius/Leo. We make no predictions as to when the next storm of giant meteors may strike the planet. Why did we use the date 2012? To get your attention. http://BrainMind.com The Best Predictor of the Future, is the Past. A Lesson From History: For 800 million years after the earth was formed, our planet was continually bombarded by giant asteroids, meteors and cosmic debris, with the first evidence of life appearing soon thereafter, suggesting some of this debris may have contained living creatures hiding deep within. If true, then our ancient ancestors may have come from other planets. Meteors and comets have not only brought life to earth, but have destroyed life on Earth. Five times in the history of our planet, the Earth has been struck by gigantic meteors with the killing power of tens of thousands of hydrogen bombs, causing mass extinctions and destroying much of the animal life on Earth. 250 million years ago, titantic asteroids slammed into the gigantic super-continent, Pangea, splitting it into separate, drifting continents, fracturing the planet, and creating thousand mile cracks, fissures and rifts that nearly circle globe. 65 Million years ago our planet was struck by a huge asteroid which helped to kill off most of the remaining dinosaurs. In 1994, huge chunks of the comet Shoemaker-Levy, slammed into Jupiter, punching holes in the upper atmosphere and causing eruptions many times the size of the Earth. One need only gaze at the meteor-cratered surface of Mercury, Mars, and the Moon, to see undeniable evidence that we live in the middle of a very dangerous cosmic shooting gallery.

Zorats Karer even the name means Stonehenge.....!!! I was there for sundown. Two shepherds passed by, the first with sheep and the second with cows. It was one of those moments you never want to end....and in a way they never do. I realised what I photographed could have been done the same way 2 thousand years ago, if only they had a camera..... The Zorats Karer (Zorats stones) date back to the second millennium B.C. According to the scientific consensus today, the arrangement of stones was most probably meant for astronomical observation (thats why there are holes in some of the stones). Zorats Karer or Karahunj (Armenian Stonehenge) is situated 3 km north of Sisian. The site consists of hundreds of vertically constructed boulders situated in a deliberate arrangement covering over 3 hectares. At first glance they appear to be randomly scattered but aerial views reveal a surprisingly precise arrangement of these giant stones. Although their exact purpose is unknown, some opinions as to the function of the Zorats stones are a temple to the god of the sun, an astronomical instrument, or an ancient university. Constructed over 6000 years ago, the Zorats stones site was a place of activity for 4000 years until Armenia’s adoption of Christianity. In total, there are 203 stones, 76 of which have 5-7 cm diameter holes bored through them. Sixty three stones stand upright, 16 on an angle, while 90 lay flat. The largest of the boulders weigh more than 50 tons and were hauled from a quarry situated several kilometers away.

Decorating for Christmas

Welcome to Tips.Net. Today we are going to be talking about turning a normal room into this: a Christmas wonderland. Let?s get started. Make sure you have everything cleaned off. Dust the counters, clear off the countertops. It?s going to make it so much easier when you are starting to put all your Christmas decorations out, you don?t want any garbage laying around. Now the focal point is going to be your Christmas tree. You want it to look full, vibrant and not fake. However, when you take it out of the box it looks like this?not very pretty. So, let?s talk about how to make it look fuller. A normal pine tree has branches that go in all directions, so we are going to need to take our mini-branches and have them go in all directions as well. Ultimately what you are trying to do is fill in all the empty space with your branches. So, if you have to kink them a little bit, move them a little higher, a little lower?that?s ok, ?cause we are also going to be filling it with ornaments and lights. Now here is our before and after. Before, you see a lot of holes, a lot of giant gaps in the tree. After, you see that with just a little bit of time of separating the many branches we have a lot fuller looking tree, and that?s going to make it a lot easier when putting on the decorations and lights. Test your lights before you try putting them on the tree. If they don?t work, throw them away. They cost like a buck fifty to three bucks. Don?t wrap your lights around your tree; instead just weave them in between the branches. Makes them a lot easier to come off when you are ready to put your Christmas decorations away. Now the kids will be more than eager to put on all the Christmas decorations. So let the shorter kids put the decorations on the lower part of the tree, and the taller kids can go higher up. Fill in the rest of the room with Christmas decorations that you can find from your local thrift store.

ASIAN TSUNAMI 5 Years Later

iReport — Walking along Surin Beach this morning with scores of sun loungers waiting for the tourists who will fill them by mid-day. On the day after Christmas it’s hard not to remember the memories of Boxing Day 2004 for those of us on the island that fateful day.Starting with that phone call from a friend in Kamala to ask if I just felt an earthquake with my first response being, despite growing in shake ridden California that “there aren’t any shakes in Thailand?” Or instead of my weekend routine at the time of walking our two dogs on Patong Beach and instead going to physical therapy at Phuket International Hospital after throwing out my neck playing golf. I still get chilling memories of those giant waves hitting the north end of the beach on CNN which is where I used to park the car. Then hearing another foreigner on the phone at the hospital talking to his wife about flooding in their beachfront house, and learning later she was taken by the second wave and swept away. After learning of the event, trying to SMS out to family and friends that we were okay as phone service flickered on and off with jammed lines. As my business partner and I who were looking after a hotel in Karon tried first to driver over the hill from Patong which was like a march of refugees and a crowded hillside of frightened people.Later finding a way through Chalong and over into Kata with so many locals and tourists heading to the high ground, and finding the hotel deserted with the exception of some staff and security guards who had moved to the high ground. And then driving through Patong, with chaos in the streets and scores of people running when a false cry of ‘another wave is coming’ was heard. Only when I got back home and saw on TV the scale of the crises did it hit home. For days and weeks after, going to Khao Lak and seeing the twisted bodies of the dead or talking to folks who lost friends and loved ones. The most haunting memory was in the hospitals seeing the pictures of t...

Hi-tech tools help sniff out volcanic gas

Armero was once a prosperous place. Now it is an open-air graveyard and a place of bitter memories. The village in central Colombia was literally wiped out in one of the deadliest volcano eruptions in modern history. Fernando Salinas gave us a tour of what is left of Armero and spoke of that fateful day, November 13, 1985. He told us: “I lived in this house with my wife and our three daughters. That night I was on the outskirts of the village. When I realised what was happening, I ran here. The electricity was down. People were running everywhere. We got lost. I arrived alone at the shelter. I lost my wife and two daughters.” The eruption of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano caused a giant mudslide that flooded the village, killing around 23,000 people. Ricardo Mendez, a volcanologist at the Colombian Institute of Geology and Mining, showed us the remains of Armero’s hospital. “This was the main entrance to the hospital building. As you see, we are now on what was the second floor. It was just down there that emergencies came in. The first floor was completed submerged in mud,” he says. A young volcanologist at the time, Mendez remembers visiting the scene with his colleagues to find out what had happened. “I first came here one month after the disaster. It was total chaos. A huge marsh. People were still trying to find their loved ones. We came here to understand what had happened, the geological and hydraulic processes behind this tragedy. But what we found here was utter despair.” 25 years later, the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano is still active, although relatively quiet. Its various craters are actively monitored by volcanologists. Seismic activity, electromagnetism or geological deformation are patterns used to predict eruptions. But volcanologists there are looking for something else. They are sniffing out volcanic gas. Mendez’s colleague Gustavo Garzon explains: “It is essential to know the composition, concentration, content a...
