I’m an aspiring handbag designer living in New York City's East Village and "Art as Fashion" is a dream I've had for a long time. It is the notion that a work of art doesn't have to be in a fixed location where everyone needs to come and see it. Rather, the art comes and goes with you in the form of a handbag to be enjoyed by the wearer as well as people wherever it goes.I am now in the process of painting a 5 foot x 18 foot mural (please take a look at the video) that is a collage of some of my favorite design inspirations. The mural, when finished, will be coated with industrial grade varnish to make the canvas and painting very durable and resistant to weather. I will then cut the mural into clutch size pieces to be combined with other materials, such as leather and silk, and sent to a local manufacturer where it will be transformed into handbags. Each clutch made from the mural will be one of a kind, hand signed, and numbered by me.Your kind donations will be used towards the cost of manufacturing the 50 or so hand bags as well as help me re-coup some of the mural production costs.Project location: New York, NY
