The WD-H43 is a wide angle lens that boasts 0.7x magnification, an additional 30% view on your HV20 camcorder. In 35mm equivalent terms, this means your focal range of 43mm - 436mm becomes 30mm - 305mm. This test focuses on comparing the standard HV20 lens to the WD-H43 add-on lens. This is my technique for making a professional looking "big" image using a wide angle adapter and Canon's award-winning Vixia line of camcorders. This demo was created using images taken from the German website niggli.com--still frames out of a Canon HV20 with a Canon WD-H43 wide angle adapter.

Tested on a Canon HV-20, the Canon WD-H37 is a cheaper alternative I chose to buy instead of the WD-H43. So far I'm very happy with the results! The rest is up to you to decide! =)

If you are a fan of Survivorman this should be pretty funny, otherwise you might want to do something else with the next 8 minutes of your life. First use of my wide-angle WD-H43 lens on the HV20. Unscripted (obviously), one-take, poor lighting. The additional weight/balance of the lens actually made the handheld parts much steadier.
