Kent has candlelight vigil for slain Lakewood officers Dec. 3

The community of Kent turned out for a candlelight vigil to honor the four Lakewood Police officers slain Nov. 29 by a lone gunman. Organizers were expecting about 30 people to attend the event, which took place outside the Kent Police station; instead more than 100 did in an outpouring of support and grief. Kent residents had a reason to feel more strongly about what had happened - one of the officers killed was Greg Richards, who started his law enforcement career in Kent before moving on to Lakewood. The remaining three officers are Tina Griswold, Mark Renninger, and Ronald Owens. In addition, the Seattle Thunderbirds had a special observance for the officer at their game Saturday in Kent, with a bagpiping band.
