WILMINGTON, N.C. — Led by three goals from Nate Poulos, Hoggard High School defeated Holly Springs, 8-6, in a key North Carolina 4A matchup. Matt Doherty added 14 saves in goal for the Vikings. After a 1-2 start, Hoggard -- ranked 16th in the North Carolina ratings by LaxPower -- has now won seven of its last eight contests. Meanwhile, Friday’s defeat ended Holly Springs' four game winning streak. Zack Hanson led Holly Springs with three scores.
