"A Joyous Procession" by Richard Purvis (1913-1994) Prelude 01 June 2008 Purvis is best remembered for his 24 years (1947-1971) as Organist/ChoirMaster at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, San Francisco. Purvis studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia - organ with Alexander McCurdy and conducting with Fritz Reiner. Further studies were with Josef Levine in New York, Edward Bairstow in England, Marcel Dupré in Paris and, after his graduation from Curtis in 1940, with Charles Courboin (Saint Patrick's Cathedral, NYC, 1943-1973) and Charles Heinroth. The pipe organ is J.W. Steere, Opus 701, built and installed in the Church of the Redeemeer, Morristown, NJ, USA in 1918. Van Hulse, a Belgian-American composer born in Saint Nicholas, Belgium, was a resident of the Southwest US from 1923 for the rest of his life. He wrote orchestral works, oratorios and cantatas, and chamber music. His works for organ comprise several symphonies, suites and symphonic poems, as well as a large quantity of shorter pieces. Pipe Organ - "Forgotten Dreams", Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) Wayne Burcham-Gulotta, Music Director/Organist J. W. Steere & Son Organ Co., Opus 701, 1918, originally 4/40 drawknob console Ernest M. Skinner bought out Steere in 1920 and Skinner ran Steere as a separate company for about a year. Then they brought it into the fold as a separate Skinner factory. For a time organs being built there had the Skinner name but were essentially Steere organs. Much of the great Skinner at Woolsey Hall, Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA is Steere (1915 major enlargement of 1902 Hutchings). Final expansion to the Skinner instrument at Yale we know today was the 1928-1929 rebuild. J. W. Sakura's Theme - FLUTE

WARNING: FIRST YEAR FLUTE PLAYER. O______O I finally got the guts to post a flute playing video. o__o;; I'm such a noob. First, I wanted to play Dearly Beloved (Kingdom Hearts), but then I decided to play an easier song for a first video. I don't know why. Thus, I chose "Sakura's Theme" even though I don't like her in the Naruto series. And, I tried to play it... with no music, but it turned out... awkwardly. And I can play better with music anyways. :P When I was searching "Sakura's Theme FLUTE" I saw... nothing actually. HEH?! It's such a nice song/easy song to play! (Even though it's so short...) Eh... It's easy to find the music sheets but for those lazy flute players: http://home.comcast.net/~gedlar/Narut... I don't know if the link works, but MEH. I don't mind being criticized... though, don't go overboard, or that'll make me go crazy and have a spaz-attack! :) I breath weirdly.
