- Khartoum - Movie 1966 - The City's Defences Are Strengthened. - Siege of Khartoum http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of... Charles George Gordon - Major-General - known as Chinese Gordon, Gordon Pasha, and Gordon of Khartoum, was a British army officer and administrator. He is remembered for his campaigns in China and northern Africa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_... Muhammad Ahmad - religious leader, in Sudan, who proclaimed himself the Mahdi - the prophesied redeemer of Islam who will appear at end times - in 1881, and declared a jihad against Egyptian authority in Sudan. He raised an army and led a successful religious war to topple the Egyptian occupation of Sudan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad... - Khartoum (film) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khartoum... Khartoum is a 1966 film written by Robert Ardrey and directed by Basil Dearden. The film stars Charlton Heston as General Gordon, with Laurence Olivier as the Mahdi (Mahommed Ahmed), and is based on Gordon's defence of the Sudanese city of Khartoum from the forces of the Mahdist army during the Battle of Khartoum. Khartoum was filmed by cinematographer Ted Scaife in Ultra Panavision 70, and was exhibited in 70 mm Cinerama in premiere engagements. - Plot: The film is about the last months before the British lost their emplacement in Sudan - in theory a subject territory of Egypt - in January 1885. Britain had occupied, but did not formally annex, Egypt in 1883. This is why Gordon, who is technically the "Egyptian" governor of the Sudan, wears a red Egyptian fez. The political origins of the Khartoum affair are unclear. The film postulates a meeting between the Prime Minister, Mr Gladstone (correctly shown wearing a finger-stall to cover a finger lost in a shooting accident as a young man), and other officials, which Gladstone ends by declaring never to have taken place. In a shortened and simplified way the film shows how Khartoum was under siege by the Mahdist army while General Gordon had been planning last strategies before Khartoum fell and he was killed in action. The secret meeting between Gordon and the Mahdi in the Mahdist camp, as portrayed in the film, is entirely fictional. The final shot of Gordon descending a staircase before being speared to death, is based on a famous painting. Major Kitchener, who played a role in Wolseley's relief expedition, was himself later a famous general and commanded the Anglo-Egyptian conquest of the Sudan in 1898. He was known thereafter as Lord Kitchener of Khartoum. - The closing scene: The following words are from the closing scene of the film, spoken by a narrator (Leo Genn): "The relief came two days later. Two days. And for 15 years the Sudanese paid the price with pestilence and famine, the British with shame and war. Within months after Gordon died, the Mahdi dies. Why, we shall never know. Gordon rests in his beloved Sudan. We cannot know how long his memory will live. But there is this: a world with no room for the Gordons is a world that will return to the sands." (Transliterated from the film.) - Khartoum (1966) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060588/ Directors: Basil Dearden Eliot Elisofon Writer: Robert Ardrey (writer) Cast: (in credits order) verified as complete Charlton Heston - Gen.

Now I thought of doing another RS Re-enacments for this year and this one is Gordon the Big Engine by Rev .W. Awdry, All Narrated by Michael Angelis and a Music Video about the Big Engines had experience with their accidents called Burning Bridges - Mike Curb Congregation. Enjoy! :) OFF THE RAILS: Gordon brags that he never had an accident like Henry did with the Flying Kipper, even though it wasnt his fault. when he is announced to take the special train (Which is Trucks), He's refused to work until Edward took him to Vicorstown on the turntable to be turned, while being turned, He was thinking of getting out of it by jamming it but backfired as he couldnt stop and slithering into the ditch! And After he got out of the ditch that evening, He now felt like a sadder and wiser engine. LEAVES: After Gordon got cleaned, The Fat Controller sterned at Gordon that he is no longer pulling the express until he is useful again and was pulling good trains instead. He didnt like that as he bumped the Trucks around the yard, and He even warned James that his hill is slippery and need some help but James wouldnt listen and thought he couldnt manage, But as he got into Gordon's Hill, He tryed to get to the top but couldnt!, He slipped back down and need Gordon's help after all! DOWN THE MINE: Thomas teases Gordon about that he fell into the ditch and he enjoyed it, until when he had to get to work at the mine, He just puffed past the board when He was of course, Headed for Trouble! and fell into the mine!, He couldnt get out!, And The Fat Controller couldnt get him out with cranes either. But will Gordon pull him out? PAINT POTS AND QUEENS: The Queen is coming to sodor and Henry bet he'll be chosen and gets a new coat of paint, He was proud of himself until one cloudy day, His massive black smoke made the painter fell off his ladder and dropped his paint pot which had fell onto his boiler! Later Gordon and Thomas apoligies the fat controller for their earlier incidents, He'd forgive them and after that, they'd been given special jobs for the queen, They were feeling lot happier now. Especially Gordon when he is pulling the queen's train. Dan5589/Nevillefan NOTE: All Things were copyrighted to their respected owners

Black Hawk Down - Randy Shughart, Gary Gordon

A clip from the movie Black Hawk Down. INFO: During the assault, Super Six One, one of the Army's Black Hawk helicopters providing insertion and air support to the assault team, was shot down and had crashed in the city. A Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) team was dispatched to the first crash site to secure it. Shortly thereafter, Super Six Four was shot down as well. Ranger forces on the ground were not able to assist the downed helicopter crew of the second crash site as they were already engaged in heavy combat with Aidid's militia and making their way to the first crash site. Gordon and his Delta Force sniper teammates Sergeant First Class Randall Shughart and Sergeant First Class Brad Hallings who were providing sniper cover from the air, requested to be dropped at the second crash site in order to protect the four critically wounded crew, despite the fact that large numbers of armed, hostile Somalis were converging on the area. Mission commanders denied Gordon's request, saying that the situation was already too dangerous for the three Delta snipers to effectively protect the Blackhawk crew from the ground. Command's position was that the snipers could be of more assistance by continuing to provide air cover. Gordon, however, concluded that there was no way for the Black Hawk crew could survive on their own, and repeated his request twice until he finally received permission. Sergeant First Class Brad Hallings had assumed control of a minigun after a crew chief was injured and was not inserted with Shughart and Gordon. Once on the ground, Gordon and Shughart, armed with only their personal weapons and sidearms, had to fight their way to the location of the downed Blackhawk. By this time more Somalis were arriving who were intent on either capturing or killing the American servicemen. When they reached Super Six Four, Gordon and Shughart extracted the pilot, Chief Warrant Officer Mike Durant and the other crew members from the aircraft, and established defensive positions around the crash. Despite having inflicted heavy casualties against the Somalis, the two Delta snipers were too outnumbered and outgunned. Their ammunition nearly depleted, Gordon and Shughart finally were killed by Somali gunfire. True heroes..
