Detective Logan (Chris Noth, reprising his former "Law & Order" character) gets his first Major Case and partners with Detective Barek (new series star Annabella Sciorra, "The Sopranos") to probe a series of murderous Mom-and-Pop jewelry heists. However, as Logan zeroes in on a drug-addicted young loser Johnny as his suspect (guest star Peter Scanavino), his instinctive methods cause concern among his fellow law enforcement officers. When the detectives arrest a twitchy female accomplice, they pick up the scent of an older woman who not only is a career criminal, but could be the driving psychological force behind the crimes. The case widens when it appears the accused's philandering father Harold, guest star Colm Meaney, is a co-conspirator who acted to protect his son -- and might be a murder suspect himself -- but he is not afraid to punch back hard against the investigators. Eventually, the cops suspect that their killer has imposed his girlfriend (guest star Michelle Hicks) on his gang and ponder if the murderous thieves have a mob connection that would permit them to quickly cash in on such a large haul of stones.
