Sabrina falls in love with one Doug O’Neal, at Utopia West, a resort where people go "to learn how to touch and feel." A murder has taken place ?- motive unknown ?- and the Angels arrive shortly after for an investigative visit. Bosley is miserable on the special diet of herbs, but the girls are busy lookin?g for clues. Kelly sees an old army photo of the victim, and the man stand?ing behind him looks just like Doug O'Neal. Sabrina promises to find out what Doug knows, but it is clear that she may be distracted from her sense of duty. Doug matches the description of the man seen running away from the murder scene, but so does another guest, Lon Molton, a very unpleasant man who has been caught snooping around the Angels' cabin. Someone has placed a phony bomb in their bin to scare them, so for that reason, and Sabrina's growing entanglement with Doug, it is necessary to solve the case quickly.

World Simulation Spring 2006

The World Simulation is a radical experiment in learning that is the centerpiece of the Introduction to Cultural Anthropology course at Kansas State University, created in a fit of frustration with the large lecture hall format which seems inevitable in a classroom of 200-400 students. Of utmost concern to me, was the nature of questions I was hearing from students, which tended to be administrative and procedural rather than penetrative, critical, and insightful. My least favorite question was also the most common: "What do we need to know for this test?" Something had to be done, so I set to work creating the World Simulation.Students are co-creators of every aspect of the simulation, and are asked to harness and leverage the new media environment to find information, theories, and tools we can use to answer our big question. Each student has a specific role and expertise to develop. A world map is superimposed on the class and each student is asked to become an expert on a specific aspect of the region in which they find themselves. Using this knowledge, they work in 15-20 small groups to create realistic cultures, step-by-step, as we go through each aspect of culture in class. This allows them to apply the knowledge they learn in the course and to recognize the ways different aspects of culture-- economic, social, political, and religious practices and institutions--are integrated in a cultural system. In the final weeks of the course we explore how different cultures around the world are interconnected and how they relate to one another. Students continue to harness and leverage the new media environment to learn more about these interconnections, and use the wiki to work together to create the “rules” for our simulation. They face the daunting task of creating a way to simulate colonization, revolution, the emergence of a global economy, war and diplomacy, and environmental challenges. Along the way, they are exploring some of the most important...

Title: Escalator Client: O'Charley's Air Date: 2008 Website: therolls.com Iconic Yeast Roll "Rises" to Occasion The Spot And The Rest Of The Story Although it is only a few inches high and a couple of inches wide, O'Charley's Restaurants' unsliceably soft roll has been assigned the substantial task of igniting passion in its guests and 17,000 associates at more than 230 restaurants located in 20 states. And, no pun intended, the iconic, proprietary yeast roll more than rises to the occasion, and does it with a dollop of humor. O'Charley's is a division of O'Charley's, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHUX), a multi-concept restaurant company. On January 21, the company launched a television advertising campaign in 33 markets, with three, 30-second spots, each featuring a basket of the popular rolls and showing its immediate positive effect on people caught in uncomfortable, but humorous situations. In one spot, a woman's dress gets tangled in a shopping mall escalator and is ripped off, causing her to quickly cover herself up with her shopping bags. A basket of O'Charley's rolls magically appears before her, bringing an immediate smile to her face along with the comment, "Is it cold in here, or is it just me?" To support the program, on January 28 O'Charley's launched a micro Web site: therolls.com. The site features a game that challenges visitors to slice an unsliceably soft roll with a knife, enter-to-win contests, the television spots and an animated fable about the roll, showing how it became a "roll" model for the industry. "What began as an advertising campaign has mushroomed into a fully integrated marketing program that resonates completely throughout the company," said Jeff Warne, O'Charley's concept president. "Sometimes the solution is so obvious, you just don't see it. We knew that our guests liked our signature rolls, but did not fully realize how passionate they were about them. During a series of focus groups, guests just lit up about the rolls when we asked them to...

A common, integrated tool set can remove error-prone processes that are done manually. One customer was able to reduce their build and release time from three weeks to one day, since all the information and code were automated in the tool. In addition, automating requirements and putting in traceability can help identify and reduce costly defects.
