SVP HDDV-9000 Digital Video Camera - Review #2

In tested the SVP HDDV-9000 Digital Video Camera, purchased on ebay (cost $169, took 1 week to arrive). I noticed the camera packaging seemed to be very good. I un-packaged the camera and loaded the included battery, did a quick setup: date, recording size, etc. A great thing about this camera is its rechargeable batteries are small and they last a long time. The MAX video size is (720x480), it has OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), Face Recognition, and records up to 8GB on an SD media card. Video recording: ---------------- (the video size: 720x480, recorded to 14MB in a .mov file format). But I decided to covert it to a .divx file format, using Dr. Divx 2.0 OSS, and it dropped the size down to 6MB, which now allows quicker uploads to VIMEO.com saving me space on my account. Dr Divx seems to convert to .divx quickly, keeping the HD video quality intact... what do you think? Notes: ------- Videos record in the small file format: avi/Xvid/divx. Can record video sizes up to 720x480(D1) 30fps, nice for the price. Videos: Not shaky because of (Optical Image Stabilization), but auto-focusing is bad. Photo: Suppositively 12MP camera, but images are not so good, looks like cheap quality! Terrible and grainy videos/pictures, when recoding in low light conditions! Monarch Caterpillar Forming Chrysalis Time-Lapse

Watching three monarch caterpillars over the Fourth of July holiday for my son's day camp. The largest one dropped into J formation yesterday evening around 5pm. Today at approximately 8:45am he formed a chrysalis. I recorded this one with iStopMotion on my Mac at 30fps taking a picture every 20 seconds. The formation of the chrysalis was very quick. For the next one I think I will record it at a picture every 5 seconds or maybe even every second. It's just difficult to determine when the little fellas are going to work their magic.
