5/29/2008 Wall cloud formation near Osborne, KS

Clips of a wall cloud forming and growing on a supercell near Osborne, KS on 5/29/2008. This is some of the fastest cloud motion I've ever seen. The storm would produce a large tornado near Cawker City about 20 minutes later. The rumbling sound in the background is mostly thunder, though there is some wind noise too.

Date: 22 April, 2005 Location: Robins AFB, Georgia Filmed by: Chase 15 This is a well defined wall cloud below a supercell that skirted to the south of Robins AFB in April 2005. While a tornado warning was never issued, NWS officials did later determine a small tornado crossed State Route 247 and entered the southern edge of the base. stormnet.org

The video is sped up to 2x. This storm produced more than 20 tornadoes and traveled over 320 miles through 3 states in 7 hours. stormnet.org

5/29/2008 Wall cloud and RFD passage near Osborne, KS

Wall cloud to the north, followed by passage of the RFD during a storm chase on 5/29/2008 near Osborne, KS. The storm would shortly thereafter go on to produce a large tornado near Cawker City.

Taylor County Supercell

Date: February 17, 2008 Location: Butler, Georgia Filmed by: Chase 15 Video of a long track supercell producing a small tornado in Taylor County, Georgia. The wall cloud dropped a small tornado behind the trees outside Butler, GA. Shortly after, the tornado dissipated. Approximately 20 minutes later a larger F2 was produced by the same wall cloud, killing 1 and injuring 11 people. The conversation in the background is Dave, Chase 15 providing an update to the Peachtree City NWS office via ham radio.

In time lapse you can really see how strong the updrafts in these big tornadic thunderstorms are. This one was definitely trying to make a tornado. With a bit more rotation, it probably would have succeeded. Let me know what you think.

This storm was associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Faye, and was one of several small tornadoes produced by a series of high precip, low topped supercells that day across Central GA. The background conversation taking place is between Dave Marshall, AB3I (Chase 15) and Tim in the patrol vehicle. When the audio "This is AB3I, I’m calling this a tornado on the ground." (4:00) is heard, Chase 15 was less than 150 yards from the tornado. Thanks to Tim for use of the video, as Chase 15's video camera broke moments before the wall cloud formed. ]]>

Date: 17 February, 2008 Location: Howard, Georgia Filmed by: Chase 15 Hail shaft in an approaching long track supercell in Taylor County, Georgia near Howard. Skywarn reports indicated golf ball to baseball sized hail about 3 miles to the west. Textbook supercell structure and extreme shear, along with very high upper level winds contributed to storm motion greater than 65mph and unusually rapid storm rotation. This storm produced more than 20 tornadoes and traveled 320 miles across 3 states in 7 hours. stormnet.org
