Have they noticed any changes around the country? Plenty of people flying in and out of Mobile have heard about new security measures at airports. But are they causing bigger delays? One passenger flying into Mobile from New York City said she only waited in line about ten minutes in New York. Jane Moore flew out of Des Moines, Iowa and said she only waited in line about 15 minutes with whatever the heightened security procedures there might have been. Market meltdown, mortgage meltdown, credit crunch... All terms we’ve grown accustomed to hearing the past few months. So should you worry, or will things get brighter soon? Perry Olson talked with a financial representative about that very question... (Perry Olson - KX News) The national economy is not exactly thriving...but Steve Pinnow with First International Investments in Minot says he won't call it a recession just yet... (Steve Pinnow - First International Investments) It is definitely a big correction right now. Could it lead to a recession? Sure. What he does call this is an opportunity a chance to buy low... (Steve) If you are a fisherman and fishing supplies are 15 percent off, you are going to go look. Stocks are 15 percent off. Investments, mutual funds, across the board things are down 15 percent for the first part of this year so this is a great time to get in a buy. Pinnow says now is the time to see if you can put extra money toward your portfolio even if it is 10 or 20 dollars. And talk to your financial advisor about where your money is going. He feels now is the time to think on a large scale...international markets. (Steve) The growth is in those areas. Lots of the products that we sell are being sold over there. He reminds us that while this downturn is substantial...it is nothing to worry about if you have working years ahead of you... (Steve) If you are not going to touch your money for another 10 years, this is a big correction but it won't ruin your life. It will recover if history has anything to say about it. We will probably, if you are in my age group, go through this correction, another one, and maybe even one more. And what about this down turn...how long will it last? Pinnow thinks the Federal Reserve rate cuts and tax refunds will give the shot in the arm that is needed. (Steve) The leading people that I listen to are saying the markets will end this year in the 16 to 17 thousand point range. So ...
