"22 Short Films About Springfield" is the twenty-first episode of The Simpsons' seventh season, which originally aired on April 14, 1996.[2] It was written by Richard Appel, David S. Cohen, Jonathan Collier, Jennifer Crittenden, Greg Daniels, Brent Forrester, Rachel Pulido, Steve Tompkins, Josh Weinstein, Bill Oakley and Matt Groening, with the writing being supervised by Greg Daniels. The episode was directed by Jim Reardon.[2] Phil Hartman guest starred as Lionel Hutz and the hospital board chairman.[1][2] The episode looks into the lives of other Springfield residents in a series of linked stories and originated from the end segment of the earlier episode "The Front". The episode is a loose parody of Pulp Fiction, and gave the staff the idea of a possible spin-off from The Simpsons.++++++++++++Plot The episode is a series of short skits, each showing a brief slice of life in Springfield after Bart and Milhouse wonder if anything interesting happens to Springfield’s citizens. Bart and Milhouse spit and squirt condiments from a highway overpass onto cars, then go to the Kwik-E-Mart. There, Apu leaves his shop for five minutes to briefly attend a party at his brother Sanjay's house. Lisa gets gum in her hair and Marge tries to get it out by putting a variety of foods on her head. Smithers gets stung by a bee while bike riding with Mr. Burns. Dr. Nick comes under criticism from the medical board for his unorthodox medical procedures only to treat Abraham Simpson with an electric light socket, saving his career. Moe gets robbed by Snake after Barney gives him $2,000 to pay for a portion of his bar tab. Skinner hosts dinner for Superintendent Chalmers and when his roast is burnt, he attempts to disguise food from the Krusty Burger as his own cooking. Homer traps Maggie in a newspaper vending box. The cops debate McDonald's Quarter Pounder vs. Krusty Burgers. Bumblebee Man's house is destroyed and his wife leaves him after a horrible day at work. Snake runs Chief Wi...

The Mission

Lok confronts Dante, who just gave his Legendary Titans to The Professor. He says that just because he’s his father's mentor, he isn't about to forgive all the terrible things he's done. Dante is in shock, his love for Metz is clashing with his own internal code and he's "stuck." Lok takes over, organizing the rest, but Zhalia refuses to leave Dante's side. Lok, Sophie and Cherit head for the roof, but when they do several statues in the room come to life and attack. With his Legendary Titan of Mind, The Professor can control Titans from a distance. Lok and Sophie break through and attack The Professor, who has all three Legendary Titans active. The Professor has all three attack Lok, who is quickly defeated and knocked from the castle. Pumping himself up, Cherit gets the strength to catch Lok and bring him back inside. Chrisitine is left to delay the ritual all alone. Even though at this point she's pretty much the weakest character, she manages to hold off The Professor using her brains and every spell and Titan to its fullest. Unfortunately, her signature Titan, Rapier, refuses to return to its dormant state when it's wounded so it can stay out and protect her. As a result, it is destroyed (this is a setup for her finding a new, more magic-oriented signature Titan next season). Meanwhile, Lok wakes up and finds himself in the Professor's office. There he finds his father's HOLOTOME (taken by the Professor during their last encounter), and inside is another of his father's Titans, which immediately bonds with him. He comes up with a strategy using this new Titan and Baislaird together. Back with Dante, Zhalia is still protecting him against the Titan monsters. For the first time in his life, he doesn't know what to do. Finally, Zhalia messes up and is about to be killed. Dante snaps to and saves her dramatically. Just as Sophie falls, Lok rushes in and uses his strategy, which is to take control over the three Titans just as they mer...
