Cartoon Network - 1994-1995 ID's, Bumpers & Promos

This is a compilation of several short Cartoon Network station identifications, bumpers and promos from around 1994-1995. While the footage may have been recorded off of a Spanish, overseas version of Cartoon Network, these various promos originated and first aired on the U.S Cartoon Network, and are identical to these versions save for the Spanish voice-overs. The clips which make up this compilation are as follows (in playing order): - Clips 1 & 2: Cartoon Network "shifting checkerboard" station ID's, in which small, cubic pieces of artwork and stills culled from Cartoon Network-related programming (MGM & Pre-'48 Warner Bros. shorts, Hanna-Barbera shows and shorts) make up an on-screen "checkerboard" that constantly shifts its tiles in rhythm with a bouncy tune until it rests in a scrambled order, revealing the old "checkerboard" Cartoon Network logo. Different variations of this ID exist, all of which followed the same "shifting checkerboard" routine and used the same bouncy music number, which in turn was used in many on-air Cartoon Network segments and could be considered as one of it's signature tunes from back then. - Clip 3: A Cartoon Network "animated shifting checkerboard" station ID, which is somewhat similar to the previous two ID's with the shifting checkerboard premise and all. This particular ID however, features stock animation and stills of various MGM/WB/Hanna-Barbera characters making their way inside, outside and through a more complex checkerboard, which also shifts in rhythm to yet another bouncy tune and ends with the checkerboard CN logo. The Spanish voiceover says to "enjoy "Tom & Jerry" on Cartoon Network", though to my memory the U.S Cartoon Network never featured such voiceovers over these ID's. Just as with the first series of "checkerboard" ID's, more than one variant of this ID exist, and they too all followed the same premise and utilized the same bouncy music number. - Clip 4: A short promo for Sunday afternoon airings of "Scooby Doo: Where Are You, done using some of the bumpers the show was utilizing at the time, which also were the first of many bumpers and wrap-arounds the show's had in its long run on Cartoon Network to this day. - Clip 5: Cartoon Network "Sploing, Boing, Bam, Splat!" station ID. Pretty nondescript station ID. - Clips 6 & 7: Bumpers for "2 In a Row" , which seemed to have been a segment or program of some sort in which two shorts or episodes of a Hanna-Barbera show were played back to back. The Spanish voiceover at the end mentions to "tune in to Cartoon Network, home of your favorite cartoon stars!". - Clip 8: A bumper for Turner Broadcasting and Cartoon Network's perennial favorite of a program, "Tom & Jerry", which TO THIS DAY holds the distinction of being the longest-running show on Cartoon Network, having been aired (with few interruptions) since day one on Cartoon Network, October 1, 1992. As far as this bumper itself goes, it is amongst the first of many bumpers and wrap-arounds that this show has had over the last 10+ years, as of 2004 it has no specific bumpers. The Spanish voiceover says: "Aaaaaah, Cartoon Network, everybody's so friendly around here....maybe not, Tom is angry, run Jerry run!". The music used for these particular T&J bumpers and wrap-arounds was a tweaked version of the theme song to the 1975 "Tom & Jerry Show". - Clip 9: An abbreviated clip of a Cartoon Network station ID which shows a tormented Jester being slingshotted by his nostrils to a bat-wielding kid, who promptly bats the Jester into oblivion. The full version of this station ID features that same Jester first entering a packed movie theater which is presumably playing Cartoon Network programming. Upon entering, the jester takes a seat amongst the crowd and watches the presentation when he suddenly begins laughly loudly and uncontrollably from the programming. The Jester is then promptly grabbed by his throat by what seems to be a security guard, who yanks the Jester out of the theater. The guard then slingshots the Jester out of the theater via the back alley, when he suddenly gets batted away by a random bat-wielding kid. - Clips 10 & 11: Two bumpers for "Super Chunk", the long-running Saturday afternoon block which aired 3-hour marathons of many of Cartoon Network's original and acquired shows, with trivia questions related to the respective shows interspersed throughout the marathons. The first incarnation of "Super Chunk" (1992-1997) was remembered for it's bumpers featuring an obese, dimwitted kid who wore an "SC" (Super Chunk) T-shirt, excitedly jumping about while saying phrases such as "SUPER CHUNK!" or "Gimme more!". He also had a tendency of falling through the screen due to his hefty weight. :) Credit goes to an unknown user from "Google Video" for this compilation clip. Enjoy!
