A collection of photos from the March 17, 2009 rocket launch to commerate over 30,000 views of Skagit IMS' flickr page. This event almost didn’t happen due to some slight wind n rain and due to the Seattle P-I print... cessation, was held back for a day from Flickr posting to be tasteful. That said, turn the volume up and enjoy 35 seconds of model rocketry, Queen rock and great photos! All photos but one used from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 and the one not used was from the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 of the rocket landing. Power Hour 2009 Video

Video taken by a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5, set up near the launch pad @ ground level^ as well as in my room to help celebrate "Power Hour" between 2030 and 2130 Hours on 28 March 2009. Figure this is a way to protest the gimmick called "Earth Hour". Since I don’t own a Hummer, a news studio, an air conditioner or anything else to offset the silliness gimmick of Earth Hour which I'd rather see spent on clean energy... here goes my protest. One C6-3 rocket carried by an Estes SpaceShipOne into the night leaving behind light and smelly lingering smoke. Also left behind at home plate no less than four incandescent bulbs, a Vextra iPod radio, a huge desktop computer with a scanner/fax/printer/photo capture Brother device + Saitek X52 on for an hour while my rocket was being fired... lots and lots of power for POWER HOUR 2009! As you may have noticed I posted some snow photos a while ago. I think now regulars get it - I wanted to participate in the banishment of the snow ceremony. Problem is, I got a dusting of snow shortly after my launch. But the snow went away next morning... I also was celebrating the deconstruction of Eddy's New & Used that was a 2+-year quest without getting drunk, chasing skirts or anything else... stupid. So there I go... :-). That said, I do believe there is some climate change and need for more respect towards the environment. Gimmicks are not the answer! ---FOOTNOTE--- ^Happy to report I did not lay down and run this camera during the launch ceremony!

My first atttempt at some production with this lovely little camera. This is one of my jogging routes filmed on Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 High Definition in 30fps, set to black and white setting. Edited on sony vegas. ]]>
