I am building this ship for the Game "Virtual Sailor 7" alongside my Titanic. It is currently a WIP. Videos showing the ship in-game are to come. This is just for fun. The camera movement mimics that of the intro scene from the 2006 "Poseidon" intro scene, and the music is from the "Poseidon" soundtrack by Klaus Badelt.

<img src="http://thumbnails.truveo.com/0010/9C/B6/9CB690D5ADE5C6BC4F08BA.jpg"> <br> Where did OBJ go?You may remember that a video or two ago, I implemented a .obj loader to load models from the Wavefront OBJ format into my graphics engine. However, I don’t like OBJ. It's just not a really good format, and I didn't want to waste my time writing a parser for it.My old workflow was something like this:Blender -> OBJ exporter -> .obj -> Custom C++ importer -> OpenGL OBJ exporter -> .obj -> Custom C++ importer -> OpenGL .obj -> Custom C++ importer -> OpenGL Custom C++ importer -> OpenGL OpenGLNow it's more like this:Blender -> Custom Lua exporter -> .lua script -> Standard Lua interpreter -> OpenGL Custom Lua exporter -> .lua script -> Standard Lua interpreter -> OpenGL .lua script -> Standard Lua interpreter -> OpenGL Standard Lua interpreter -> OpenGL OpenGLThis is WAY more powerful than obj, AND the interpreter is already written for me.As an example, my engine uses OpenGL triangle lists, so it only supports 3-vertex polygons. But Blender likes to use quadrilaterals, and it takes 6 vertices to describe a pair of triangles equivalent to the 4 vertices of a quad.So Suzanne.lua (the monkey head model) lists all the vertices in quadrilateral form, then runs a for-loop IN the Lua script to convert them to triangles. This happens in my program's Lua interpreter, so Blender can export quads without a second thought, my engine can import triangles without a second thought, and Lua saves space by storing the quads and converting them with a script that's contained in the model file itself.Lighting:Also, the monkey head is lit using its normals, to show that my new Lua importer supports them. .obj has normals, but my program didn't parse them because I hate .obj.The normals are transformed into world space and then the xyz coordinates are interpolated into the pixel shader and converted to rgb.The code is available if you ask nicely.
