10 Items or Less (2006)

In 10 ITEMS OR LESS Morgan Freeman plays a renowned (but unnamed) actor who is best known for starring in blockbuster suspense thrillers. But he has not made a film for four years. Hoping to get back in the game, he has agreed to consider doing an "indie" film about a night manager in a low-rent supermarket. He asks to be dropped off at a market in Carson, a working class suburb of Los Angeles, so he can research his character. The actor discovers that there's no store manager present and nobody speaks English, with the exception of Scarlet (Paz Vega), the cashier in charge of the '10 items or less' checkout lane. When the actor's driver fails to pick him up, he finds himself stranded. The pampered star appeals to Scarlet for help. She agrees to take him back to Brentwood, but only after she goes to a job interview at a construction company. A most unexpected relationship blooms between these two kindred spirits, colliding under the most unlikely of circumstances.
