This little known part of U.S. history is perhaps the most tragic September 11th of all. For a decade, U.S. intelligence agencies & American corporations propagandized the Chilean public by buying media outlets in order to campaign against Salvador Allende. In 1970, Chile democratically elected Allende president. Nixon’s reaction to Kissinger, “Make their economy scream.” Former Director of the CIA, John McCone, ITT, Pepsi and other corporations and agencies collaborated with Pinochet in order to overthrow Chile’s government. On 9.11.1973, Allende was assassinated and thousands of non-violent followers were summarily executed. Soccer stadiums were converted into prison camps where tens of thousands were detained indefinitely. Pinochet tormented Chile for 17 years… he is the South America equivalent to Saddam Hussein.
