AEMs are Advanced Elective Modules in applied areas offered by the polytechnics to upper secondary students. Each AEM is about 40 hours in duration. AEMs emphasise practice and application, so a large part of the AEM curriculum is taken up by laboratory work, workshop sessions, projects and presentations. AEMs are not offered for the GCE O Level Examinations. They have been introduced to: * Give you more choices in the subjects you wish to study * Better cater to your different strengths and interests, * Give you exposure to applied, hands-on and project-oriented ways of learning * Give you a taste of poly education so that you can make a more informed choice about where to go after your O Level Exams. In addition, your participation in the AEM programme and grades obtained will be considered by the polytechnics (within the framework of discretionary admissions allowed in, for example, the DPA exercise) when you are applying for admission to the polytechnics! There are no examinations. All AEMs are assessed through in-course assessments (in the form of tests, project work, presentations and assignments). Visit our website: www.sp.edu.sg
