A PORTION OF A TOUR OF THE WRIGHT PATTERSON AFB AIRCRAFT MUSEUM This F-117 Stealth Fighter (Nighthawk) can seen from different angles. Its exhaust is well hidden. Although it uses the "F" designation, it is chiefly a ground-attack plane, which is also used as a bomber. Because the strenght of a radar return is proportional to the edge configuration of an object, the plane has a boxy, aerodynamically unstable appearance. Its stealth technology also includes its surface coating. The GBU-27, a 2200 lb. laser-guided bomb was designed specifically for use by this fighter. It is considered a highly accurate missile compatible with the F-117's advanced targeting system. Also shown is the huge B-52D Stratofortress. Sadly also shown is the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, that dropped the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. The GBU-27 was used in Baghdad, Iraq. At the end of the film is the beginning of a tour of Wright Patterson Air Force Base, with long-time Dayton, Ohio, resident.
