Amber Gentry [b. June 6th 1992] was raised in Portland, Oregon and is a 15 years old SophomoreAmber is in the fight of her life right now. She has been in and out of OHSU's Dornbeckers Childrens Hospital since December 26th.On January 8th she went through a series of tests to reveal the source of her ongoing hip pain.After two misdiagnosis, it was discovered that she has a large tumor growing out of her pelvis that has eaten away 1/2 of her pelvic bone and consumed one of her ovaries.On January 14th the oncologist gave us the news that she has Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that originates from the bone and accounts for less than 2% of all childhood cancers.After starting Chemotherapy, our physicians decided to do a second biopsy on yet unidentified nodules in her lungs, which were soon determined to be evidence that the Ewings had metastasized.Amber will go through 6 months of Chemotherapy, radiation and then possibly surgery to remove the tumor.After that she will do follow up Chemotherapy.
