Art Hanger
May 16, 2008 Beyond Politics Ar...t Hanger , was one of four children, who grew up on a farm, about an hour and a half northeast of Calgary, near a town called "Three Hills". From an early age, Art decided that he wanted to be a cop. and his dream was realized when, at an early age, he put on the uniform of the Calgary Police Department. Hanger was good at his job, moving up the ranks until he became a detective. In 1993, Preston Manning and the Reform Party were making waves in Western Canada., Art liked what he heard and thought he'd make a pretty good Reform MP. Running with little money, but a lot of enthusiasm and support from his family and friends, Art won the riding handily, and he's won the riding ever since. Earlier this year, Art Hanger decided that it was time to move on and retire from public life. On Beyond Politics , Catherine Clark talks to Art Hanger about life, on the farm, on the beat and in the parliamentary precincts of Ottawa.
