On the morning of May 7 , 2009, I was watching the news and saw Boris Kodjoe And Nicole Ari Parker talking about an event In Central Park For A Mother’s Day Run/Walk. Researching and finding a cure for Spina Bifida is a part of my passion to not let my paralysis stop me from bringing awareness for spinal cord injury. As easy as my supporters think I make it look, it's not. Every day it's a toll on my body , putting me in pain and sweats, knowing that millions of moreexperience worse , I push myself to go out and deliver messages. The event happened on Mother's Day, my mom by my side as well. The pictures were taken by my mom and my friend Alvin. The R Baby was founded by Andrew and Phyllis Rabinowitz after losing their 9-day-old daughter Rebecca Ava to an undiagnosed, untreated viral infection that was missed in the ER. R Baby wants to make sure that all emergency rooms are equipped to handle infants and children in the event that they contract illnesses such as the swine flu, or get into accidents. Boris and Nicle started a foundation inspired by their daughter. The SOPHIE'S VOICE FOUNDATION was founded in 2008 by actors Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker in honor of their daughter Sophie who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida at birth. The news hit hard, but through consulting with various specialists and by educating themselves they found a way to address their daughter's needs and provide her with the best care and treatment available today.But along the way they encountered families who couldn't afford to dedicate time and medical resources to their loved ones and were stranded in a place of confusion and despair.Nicole and Boris were determined to help provide medical, physical, and emotional support to Spina Bifida Families everywhere. They teamed up with pediatric physicians from Atlanta to assist families in finding treatment options and care, and to help fund research and surgical studies.
