Education - Gadsden, AL Construction is underway on Gadsden’s newest school, Gadsden City High School. The $30 million plus project is set for completion in early 2006. Gadsden City High School will offer numerous advanced placement courses, an augmented foreign language department, an extensive fine arts program, and technical training. The impressive main building has 70 classrooms, three computer labs, five science labs, a high-tech media center, a broadcast studio, an 800-seat auditorium, three music rehearsal studios, and two gymnasiums. The 290,000 square-foot structure will be located on a 53-acre gated campus that will accommodate numerous sports arenas, including an 8,000 seat stadium. Gadsden State Community College has one of the largest enrollments for two-year colleges in Alabama. In addition to preparing students for a four-year university, GSCC offers more than 50 degrees and certificates to qualify students to work in technical or career fields. Other educational opportunities include the University of Alabama Gadsden Center, Gadsden Job Corps Center, Gadsden Business College, and Bevill Technology Center. Jacksonville State University is located approximately 20 miles from Gadsden. The Center for Cultural Arts, the Gadsden Museum, and the Gadsden Public Library system are also excellent resources for lifelong learning.
