Sor Lucía y la novicia María piden ayuda para el asilo de huérfanos en un palenque en donde el hacendado Carlos y el ranchero Vicente "EL DIABLO" tratan de impresionar a la novicia ofreciendo la mitad de sus ganancias para el asilo. Poco después las monjas reciben un aviso del Obispo en el que se ven obligados a cerrar el convento por lo cual María pide ayuda al hacendado pero este le pone una condición que ella no puede cumplir pues está enamorada de "EL DIABLO"
