An oil service company that recently moved to Williston is providing products to protect the environment around the world. Shane Herman moved Enviroshield to Williston in June of last year, after starting the company in his garage in Arizona nearly ten years ago. Jim Olson shows us why the products are so valuable to oil-related companies. (Jim Olson, KX News) From Alaska to Texas, Kentucky to Utah, oil companies are operating under a new environmental policy (Shane Herman, Enviroshield) What they call no drips, no spills. (Jim Olson, KX News) That means in their drilling and pumping operations, they strive to have not a single drop of contaminant hit the soil. And that’s where Shane Herman and his Williston-based company Enviroshield come in (Shane Herman, Enviroshield) All our material is made on a 118 wide roll. (Jim Olson, KX News) This material is the heart of their operation - it forms the backbone of Enviroshield's spill prevention devices. It's formed into various shapes - such as this portable spill catcher that can slide under a truck or hose connection or other place where a spill might happen. (Shane Herman, Enviroshield) It's chemical resistant. You can physically bend this in half and it'll come back to its size for the life of it. (Jim Olson, KX News) And while that's a small example, Enviroshield also handles big jobs - like installing a protective shield under this entire site - the new Sanjel location on Williston's east side. Herman says his business has been transformed by a device sitting in the company's shop - that uses heat to weld the material together - eliminating sewing of seams - and speeding up production while improving product quality.
