Flores De Otro Mondo (Flowers Fr ...

Desperate for love, several lonely men living in a remote Spanish village hold... a singles party, inviting available women who are mostly poor immigrants from third world countries. The men want companionship; the women, looking like colorful flowers against the drab environment, arrive for the party hoping for better lives. The story traces the relationships of three couples who all struggle with different problems, including clashing cultures and racism. Patricia, an illegal immigrant with two children, thinks she has found a good match with the shy, but dependable Damian (Luis Tosar, Take My Eyes, Los lunes al sol); then she learns that his hostile mother comes with the marriage. A wealthy middle-aged builder, Carmelo (Jose Sancho, Sexo por compasion), fervently tries to impress Milady, a young Cuban golddigger determined to travel the world. Meanwhile, villager Alfonso (Chete Lara, Open Your Eyes) pursues a part-time romance with Marirosi (Elena Irureta, I Will Survive), who has established her own life in a more urban area. Directed by the renowned Iciar Bollain (Hola, ?estas sola?, Take My Eyes), this award-winning film, based on a true story, stirs the heart with its bittersweet exploration of relationships and the difficulties of maintaining a lasting connection.
