3 out of ? of the marathon. ******************** *Railey’s P.O.V.* The nurse called me back, and Nick stood and started walking with me. “I’ll go alone,” I rudely said to him. “That’s great, I’ll come with you,” he said, as if I had never said my previous sentence. I sighed and just gave up. We went into a room and explained what happened. She did a little “check-up” on me. I told her I had been dizzy for a couple days, so she did an ultrasound to see if everything was okay with the babies. She looked at the monitor with hard eyes. Then slowly turned it off. “Everything... okay?” Nick asked. He had a hold of my hand, which made me mad. Everything makes me mad these days. “Unfortunately,” she started, “You’ve had a miscarriage, Ms. Jenkins...” she sorrowfully said. My mouth dropped open and I stared at her in disbelief. “That explains the vomiting and nausea,” she informed me. “But...” I quietly protested. I looked at Nick, who looked hurt. “By the looks of this ultrasound,” she said while turning the monitor back on, “The baby you had a miscarriage with stopped growing around 4 1/2 months. As you can tell, the other baby is much more developed and healthy. This baby didn’t have a chance of survival. I’m terribly sorry, but it was definitely for the best. If the baby would of been born, there’s no way it would live longer than 48 hours,” she finished. I sighed and slowly nodded. “Plus, it could of hurt your other baby,” she said. Dang, Nick and I have no luck with kids. I looked at Nick. “Sorry...” I apologized. He half-smiled and hugged me. “Why are you always sorry?” he asked, “Millions of people have miscarriages everyday. It’s part of life,” he said. I hugged back and nodded. That did make things better. The nurse did her thing, and we left. My stomach looked slightly smaller, but atleast one baby is still alive. I called mom and told her about it. She said that she had six miscarriages before she had me. I guess it is part of life. I didn’t re...
