I'll tell you what would be smart,If the "Smart Grid" would give EVERY consumer the (now) $4500.00 inverter and "Smart grid tie-in" so that we could create our own samll solar and wind systems without going broke...No..of course they won't do this, because that would decentralize everyones need to "buy" energy from them.
