Memoria del Festival Internacional de Poesía de Medellín. Lasana M. Sekou naci...ó en San Martín, Antillas holandesas, en 1959. Poeta, narrador, dramaturgo, ensayista editor y tallerista literario. Entre sus libros de poesía, se encuentran: Moods for Isis - Picturepoems of Love & Struggle (Caprichos para Isis --Poemaspinturas de amor y lucha- 1978; For the Mighty Gods; An Offering (Para los poderosos dioses, una ofrenda), 1982; Images in the Yard (Imágenes en el patio), 1983; Maroon Lives- For Grenadian Freedom Fighters (El Cimarrón vive- Para los Combatientes Libertarios Grenadinos), 1983; Born Here (Nacido Aquí), 1986; Mothernation (Maternación)- Poems from 1984 to 1987 (1991); Quimbé... The Poetics of Sound (Quimbé... La poética del sonido), 1991; Big Up St. Martin - Essay & Poem (Colosal San Martín, Ensayo y poema), booklet, 1999. Sus libros Nativity & Dramatic Monologues for Today (Natividad y Monólogos dramáticos para hoy, 1988; Love Songs Make You Cry (Canciones de amor te hacen llorar), 1989, y Brotherhood of the Spurs (Hermandad de las espuelas), 1997, han sido textos de clase en York University, Kenyon College, y the University of St. Martin respectivamente. Ha recitado sus poemas en colegios, universidades y Festivales literarios del Caribe, Estados Unidos, África, Europa y Asia. Es director de The House of Neheshi Publishers, que ha publicado obras de destacados autores del Caribe y Norte América. Poemas y artículos suyos han aparecido en diversas revistas y magazines literarios, tales como Callaloo (USA), The Caribbean Writer (Islas Vírgenes), Del Caribe (Cuba), The Massachusetts Review (USA), De Gids (Países Bajos), Revue Noir (Francia), Das Gedicht (Alemania), Calabash (Universidad de Nueva York, USA).
