Raw footage from the January 14, 2009 Justice for Oscar Grant march and rally in Oakland, CA. Video taken shortly after the scheduled rally had ended. Oakland Riot Police face off with protesters before backing out of the block. While it is noteworthy that the police chose to back down rather than assault the crowd, the real credit goes to the rally organizers and volunteer security. They are the ones in the bright/reflective safety vests, who formed a human barrier between the two groups, holding the crowd at bay and allowing the police to leave the block without confrontation.
