Latin America's first solar car

A team of young engineers in Santiago, Chile recently unveiled a solar car the...y hope will compete with the world's best. Named Eolian, the car was designed and built by the students who used glass, wood and an electric motor to make the three-wheeled vehicle. It is the first solar car made in Latin America. The hi-tech car will compete in the world's most prestigious solar car race, the 2007 World Solar Challenge in Australia. Held every two years, the race in Australia spans 3021 km and participants are not allowed to use any other power source beyond that stored in solar panels.
