Matrix Chopper Crash - Behind the Scenes

Take a behind the scenes look at a scene from the film The Matrix, although the helicopter crash scene only appears for seconds, months of work went into ensuring a perfect one take result. What is interesting this model explosion looks exactly like the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Towers. This video outlines what I now call the dinosour art form of special effects pyro, various types of explosives were used in combination, fired with millisecond delays and shot with high speed slow motion cameras. In post production digital artists removed the delivery arm, and composited the city reflection into the building facard.
