Twins fans know how good the A.L. Central Division is! In two of the last three years, the division winner has played in the World Series and the Cleveland Indians were a game shy of it last year....and as Domenic Izzo reports, the Twins think that even with their young team - they *can* contend for a title this year. (Justin Morneau:) Those teams are good, they have a lot of talent, but you have to stay healthy and a lot of things have to go right for a team to win the division, so hopefully, we’ll be that team and we believe we can, so it is all that matters. (Scott Baker:) We are going to have to play well within our division to have some success this year and we know that. (Reporter:) Scott Baker knows that there is plenty of pressure on him this year. After a 9-and-9 season that included a near-perfect game against Kansas City, Baker goes into this season knowing that he might be the ace of a very young pitching staff. (Scott Baker:) We realize that even with (Johan) Santana, we were going to be young, but without him, we'd be that much younger, so we'll go out there and try and do the very best we can and have fun with it. Last year was a great year for me, and I hope to continue in executing pitches and trying to be as consistant as possible. (Reporter:) Consistancy is a big key for the Twins this year. What else is constant is where the so-called experts have Minnesota finishing in the division - fourth. (Ron Gardenhire:) 58-102 I think we have been picked down that far before, so you know what, that is nothing new to us and we always seem to get wacked down there somewhere and that is okay. You know what, you read the papers and you look at it on paper and we are probably not supposed to be as good as some of those other people, but you know what, you carry that courage across that line and you get it done and that's where it all happens and we'll see what happens. (Brendan Harris:) We have got some great young arms and we have a good bullpen and a good line up, so I think we stack up against anybody, so when you spend money, you make big moves like the Tigers did, so they are going to get the Lion's share of the publicity, but at the same time, I like where we are at. That was Domenic Izzo reporting. The Twins journey just got underway, with their 'old friend' Torii Hunter visiting the Metrodome as a member of the Los Angeles Angels. Join us tonight at 10:00 central for highlights.
