PETA's Goriest Video of All Time shows gruesome footage captured behind the scenes in factory farms and slaughterhouses. For billions of animals every year, this nightmare is an agonizing reality. -quote ------------------------------------ peta has a database of many videos and a catalog of cruelty free companies at: http://www.peta.com/ http://www.peta2.com/index.aspx -------- you can shop from websites that support animals and charities. that is a great way to shop and support our community and the animals. this is also a great way to buy gifts for people. support eco friendly small business ma and pa shops Please: NEUTER AND SPAY, do not breed. if you want a pet, adopt or foster from animal shelters and rescue organizations. you can do an internet search. do not buy from irresponsible breeders. support animal shelters and rescue organizations. -------- if you choose to go vegan/vegetarian, it is a different process for everyone. there are many books and resources out there to help you, if you would like to experiment w/ this route. there are online resources, and recipes online. this doesn't have to be an agonizing decision, or something that has to be done in black and white. go at your own pace, and try it out, if you are interested. for example, if you eat meat, you can start buying from "humanely, organicly raised meat," (although it may be a bit more expensive.) if you eat meat everyday, you can eat meat every other day. what ever your consumption of meat is, you can try decreasing it, or eating meat occasionally, etc. you can slowly cut out cow and pig, and just eat seafood, fish, shrimp, and birds, etc, then slowly cut out birds, and eat seafood, etc. just an idea. (ps you might lose weight.) there is vegetarian meat, vegetarian hamburger, vegetarian bacon, vegetarian ham, vegetarian sandwich meat, vegetarian hotdog, vegetarian chicken mcnuggets, etc. on youtube, you can put in keywords such as: vegetarian meals, vegetarian recipes, vegan meals , vegan recipes, etc. vegetarianism is not only for humane reasons, others might do it for religious reasons, personal reasons, health reasons, to "cleanse" the body, etc. try it if you are interested. -------------------------- there are many other societies besides peta, such as: aspca http://www.aspca.org humane society http://www.hsus.org the humane society website has prewritten letters you can email, phone calls to make to protest against animal cruelty. it's easy to do. ----- negative/rude/sarcastic responses will be deleted, don't bother wasting your time here. watch/debate videos/discussions that interest you instead. thoughtful responses from all points of view ok. no one is shoving vegetables down your throat, so if you don't like it, move on. why waste time here. i just press delete. :) ps. animals & plants aren't the same --biology ---- :) shop from vegan/vegetarian companies just do an internet search. :) ---- i dl'ed video from peta website. this video is graphic. paul mccartney said if slaughterhouses had glass windows, we'd all be vegetarians. if you want to check out positive aspects of vegetarianism and animals, there are some great videos here on youtube. i think i saw a video on youtube of someone taking care of a pet cow. but be aware, there is also a horrible realistic side to animal slaughter/torture for profit that is hidden from public view. well, i encourage you to check out vegetarian/ vegan recipes demonstrated on youtube for positive aspects. ----------- websites about having pet cows and pigs: http://sybilsden.com/cow/cowmain.htm ------------- i've heard people say why bother saving animals when there are people to save. i don't agree with this argument due to its' fallacy. there are many different avenues to go in life; some choose to save the animals, some choose to save the environment, some choose to save people. it's ALL RELEVANT. everyone has different interests, the same way some people choose a certain career, a certain hobby, etc. to each their own. if we keep with this mentality- that one thing is worth saving more than the other, there would be no one for the environment, no one for the animals. hitler thought one species was more important than the other too. eating cows dogs pigs cats, is all the same. our culture stigmatizes us to think one species is more important/ has a "higher quality" of life than another. the buddhists think animals are important too, and that this world is interwoven, and not separate. compassion towards animals tends to bring compassion towards humans and the environment as well. **don't forget to check out my links above** Thanks. Take Care.
