Colorful images and music weave a timeless tapestry through the landscape and culture of the Texas/Mexico border region of the Rio Grande River, "El Rio Bravo." In the not-so-distant past, powerful radio stations on the Mexican side of the border broadcast illegally over American airwaves to audiences as far away as Chicago. RADIO BRAVO presents a contemporary twist on this legendary historical phenomenon. RADIO BRAVO is narrated by the legendary border radio pitchman, DALLAS TURNER and follows the adventures of two lovers, MANUEL (from Mexico) and MARIA (from Texas) and their efforts to transcend their respective cultures and create a future unique to themselves. Various film and video mediums in Black & White as well as high-resolution color are to be used to generating a look that is forward to the future as well as back to the nostalgic past. Musicians and bands representing the contemporary music coming from the Texas and the border region today, as well as a salute to some of the famous groups and performers who made their reputation on border radio in the past are featured on each episode.
