Taitung Amis in Hualen

In Ji-an Township, Hualien, there is an indigenous community known as "Little Taitung." It is called "Little Taitung" since a group of Amis people from Luye Township of Taitung County moved to the place in 1960 looking for work and later settled down there. There are currently 20 such families in the community with over a hundred members. Every year at the harvest festival, they put on their traditional Luye outfits, which are in different style compared with the Amis costumes in Hualien. The obvious differences between the attires of the Taitung and Hualien have also become a feature in the festival.
