The Boat Ramp - Letus Extreme Film - HDTV

I had the day off today and it was finally warming up. The temperature was 85 degrees F with high humidity. I thought that the Ashland State Park in Massachusetts would be full of people in boats and I was right. I brought my Sony EX1 with the Letus Extreme 35mm film lens adapter to the lake. I am using the EX1 acromat upgrade kit. This time, I brought my dolly with twenty feet of track, my super-secret EX1/LEX underwater system, my home-made jib, my Vinten Vision 3 tripod and some lenses. I only used the short arm today on my jib. I also have a long arm that lets me extend to almost 20 feet off the ground! I also brought my Glidecam 4000 with body pack, the panning telescope head and my super-secret motor to pull my dolly down the track for motorized time lapses. I did not have time to use any of these contraptions. I will incorporate them all in my next short. I hung out by the busy boat ramp and shot on or near the sloped dirt where people load in their floatables. I moved my jib to about four different places, used only the Sigma 18mm (on the jib) and the Nikon 200mm lens (long shorts) with a gradient filter and a polarizer. The Sigma lens is cheap and I only use it because it is so wide. I will be using my Nikon Nikkor 24mm f2.8 for these jib shots in my next short because it is better glass. The lake people were very pleasant and very interested in my jib. They would come over and check it out and ask a few questions. This entire short was shot in 720p 30p and the camera was overcranked to 60 FPS. This gives you the sliky smooth slow motion. I dialed the EX1 camera picture profile to “Cine2” and set the HiSAT to +99 for a lot of in camera saturation. I messed with the saturation and black levels in Final Cut and used Magic Bullet Looks to color grade and add blue to the sky. Try to find the fish jumping in the video.
