Do environmental activists HATE science? If so, that may explain why they spread STUPID ideas contrary to known science. The Alaskan coastline was observed from the air by pilots and by sailors and fishermen at sea for many decades. But did they ever see a swimming polar bear back in the 30's and 40's? Bet your LIFE they did! But THINK! Did they hurry to pick up the phone and call the newspapers and REPORT IT? Probably not. Let's be reasonable. Polar bears SPEND THEIR LIVES hunting on floating ice. They eat seals, for cryin' out loud! How do you think those bears REACH those floating chunks of ice? Do they parachute in using airplanes? No. I'll be frank; they swim. Recently 4 (four) out of a total population or at least 20 thousand bears are thought to have drowned. You probaby know that storms sink large ships, right? Well, they do. With that in mind, consider the fate of a polar bear caught at sea during a sever storm. (Hey, isn't it great to have blood flowing in your brain again? Now you're thinking like a scientist!) Ready? Okay. What does the following sentence REALLY mean: "Scientists for the first time have documented multiple deaths of polar bears off Alaska, where they likely drowned after swimming long distances in the ocean amid the melting of the Arctic ice shelf." The sentence might lead one to suppose that ice floes are melting for the first time in geologic history and that polar bears almost never drowned 1000 years ago. for example, when the Vikings gave Greenland it's name because Greenland was GREEN during the Midieval Warm Period. Let's be honest. Wouldn't the typical reader assume that the drowning deaths were caused by man-made global warming? Yep. That's what you're supposed to assume. You are supposed to go away convinced that EXXON Corp. caused "multiple deaths" of an endangered species (they are NOT endangered) and that somehow America is to blame. So, you see the words, "Cold War" have now ta...
